Liverpool v Blackburn: Preview, Team News, Likely XI, Prediction & Betting Tips

Liverpool take on Blackburn at Anfield in the quarter finals of the FA Cup tomorrow. Here’s a preview with team news, line-ups, predicted score and betting tips

Anfield Kop

Liverpool will be looking to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup when they take on Blackburn Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds are the in-form team in the Premier League right now and continued their sensational form with a 2-0 victory over Burnley at Anfield on Wednesday night to keep them firmly in the hunt for a top four finish.

However, Brendan Rodgers will put Champions League aspirations to one side tomorrow as he looks to capitalise on what’s an excellent opportunity to bring silverware back to Liverpool this season.

The FA Cup is wide open this year after several of the top teams crashed out at the fourth round stage and with one of Man Utd or Arsenal guaranteed to follow suit, the Merseysiders will fancy their chances if they can book their place in the semi finals with a win over Blackburn tomorrow.

Rovers head into the game having already beaten Swansea and Stoke in previous rounds but they haven’t won at Anfield in any of their previous 11 visits, so they’ll have to produce something special on Sunday if they want to end that run.

Team news

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will be handed a late fitness test after returning to light training following six games out with a hamstring injury.

Defender Mamadou Sakho is expected to be back in contention after missing the last three weeks with a hip injury and he could replace Dejan Lovren at the back.

Jordon Ibe remains out with a knee injury so Lazar Markovic could come in on the right wing.

Doneil Henry could make his second start for Blackburn following a loan move from West Ham last week.

However, Shane Duffy, Jason Lowe and Alex Baptiste are all certain to miss the game while Grant Hanley is a major doubt with a leg injury.

Striker Josh King is also unlikely to be passed fit as he continues to struggle with a hamstring injury.

Likely Line-Up

Predicted Score

Liverpool 2-0 Blackburn: The Reds have been in excellent form of late and with Blackburn having plenty of injury problems in defence, I can see a relatively comfortable home victory tomorrow.

Betting Tips

Liverpool are the favourites to win the game at best odds of 3/10 but thanks to Football-Talk new customers can get enhanced odds of 3/1 on a home win and you can also win £100 in free bets. Our predicted score of 2-0 is on offer at 5/1 while I also fancy Daniel Sturridge to open the scoring at odds of 3/1. If we combine those two bets in a score-cast then we get very tempting odds of 11/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
