Tottenham Hotspur will look to get their season back on track when they take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon. Here is the latest team news and the starting eleven I think Mauricio Pochettino will select:

Goalkeeper: The Spurs boss confirmed this afternoon that Hugo Lloris remains a major doubt with a leg injury that he picked up earlier this month. The French international will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness but Michel Vorm is on stand-by to continue in goal.

Defence: Kyle Walker is also still struggling to be fit after suffering an ankle injury against Burnley two weeks ago so Vlad Chiriches could continue at right-back with Danny Rose expected to keep his place on the left.

Jan Vertonghen is the third key player who faces a late fitness test after missing the defeat to Aston Villa through illness. Federico Fazio will continue to deputise at the back if the Belgian defender is ruled out.

Midfield: Spurs were disappointing against Villa but I don’t see Pochettino making wholesale changes so Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb are likely to continue together in midfield as they’ve forged an excellent partnership this season. The likes of Mousa Dembele and Etienne Capoue remain out-of-favour.

Attack: Harry Kane is certain to keep his place up front despite drawing a blank in his last two games while Christian Eriksen is another who’s assured of his place in the team despite a disappointing showing against Villa. However, Andros Townsend could make way for Erik Lamela but Nacer Chadli should keep his place in attack.

Here’s how I think Spurs will line-up for the game:

What do you think? What team would you select for the game?
