Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has beaten off stiff competition to be named as the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year for the 2014/15 Premier League season.

Sanchez was nominated for the award along with Manchester United’s David De Gea, Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and the early favourite; Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

Over 200,000 votes were cast throughout the past month but Sanchez has claimed the award, beating PFA Player of the Year Hazard into second while Aguero came in a rather surprising third.

The Arsenal forward has enjoyed an excellent debut season in the Premier League following his move from Barcelona last summer after scoring 16 goals and providing a further 8 assists in his 35 league appearances.

The Chilean international’s impressive form helped the Gunners secure a third-placed finish in the league while he will hope to add to his goal tally when the North Londoners take on Aston Villa in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley.

Sanchez was named in the PFA Premier League team of the year but he now has the fans’ individual award to add to his collection and one lucky Arsenal supporter will present the attacker with his award at the start of next season.
