Petr Cech is ready to snub interest from Manchester United and tell Chelsea he wants to join Arsenal this summer with the goalkeeper keen to remain in London, according to reports today.

Cech is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after losing his first team place to Thibaut Courtois last season and Chelsea have reluctantly agreed to sell the long-serving Czech international.

Jose Mourinho has tried his best to keep the 33-year-old happy but Cech has been restricted to playing in the domestic cup competitions with the stopper making just 7 Premier League appearances last season, and he’s confirmed he doesn’t want to spend another year as a No.2.

Mourinho has said he’d prefer to see Cech move abroad rather than join a Premier League rival but acknowledges that the decision could be taken out of his hands, with reports suggesting that Roman Abramovich is willing to let the player decide his own future as a reward for 11 years of loyal service to the club.

“One thing is Jose Mourinho and another is Mr Abramovich, and another thing is the board, because the board is a little bit of me and a little bit of other people.

“If it was me, if it was my decision, the decision is Petr to stay. That’s it. It would be my decision for Petr to stay. Even against his will? Yes.

“For me, decision number one, Petr will stay. After that, second point, to go but not in England. The option I don’t want is for him to go to an English club.

“But, I repeat, I am just the manager and he means so much for this club and what he did in this club, I think he deserves everything from this club. If the club decision is different to mine I will accept it.” Mourinho is quoted as saying by Goal

Several top clubs throughout Europe have shown a keen interest in signing Cech with Manchester United, Arsenal and PSG all strongly linked with a move in recent months.

United are drawing-up a list of targets in-case David De Gea leaves for Real Madrid while Arsene Wenger is believed to be in the market for a new keeper after losing faith in Wojciech Szczesny.

However, it appears the Gunners are set to win the race as Goal are reporting today that Cech is ready to tell Chelsea he wants to join Arsenal this summer.

The report claims that the goalkeeper is keen to remain in London where he and his family are settled, and Wenger is understood to be confident of striking a deal with Chelsea.

If true, it would be something of a coup if the North Londoners could pull it off as Cech would be an excellent signing who’d be a big upgrade on David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny.

Many feel the Gunners are just a couple of players short of being genuine title challengers, with a top class keeper a key area they need to strengthen, and Cech would provide them with a safe pair of gloves between the sticks next season. According to Freebets Odds news, Arsenal are currently third favourites to win the league next season at 9/2, and those odds would look extremely attractive if they managed to sign Cech.

I’m sure Chelsea will still try and persuade Cech to opt for a move abroad as they’d be reluctant to strengthening a direct rival and Goal claim they will demand £15m for his services this summer, despite the fact he has just one year remaining on his deal.
