The Clasico Lesson…..

By on November 30, 2010

I guess the best way to describe the mauling Mourinho got yesterday at the Nou Camp is the word ‘humbling.’ Actually, humbling is a very mild term in this context. Rather embarrassment, humiliation, laughing-stock(s), and lets see what else…hmmm, ‘run ragged’, *****d, thrashed, ‘brought back to earth’ etc are much better terms to describe what happened yesterday at the Nou  Camp…Simply putting it, I lost a 3 dollar bet with my bro.

But on a more serious note, when was the last time you saw ‘A Jose Mourinho’ team get beaten so badly. Thrashed, smashed, and probably whip-lash at the Coliseum ! FC Barcelona, no matter how much I swear at them because I do not like them, were from another planet yesterday. They out-classed Madrid, and Mourinho in every department..even mangers attire !

So now I am going to do a little comparison with the first teams of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Arsenal.

Lets start of with Real Madrid :

Marcelo undisclosed, Carvalho 08 ml euros, Pepe 30 ml euros, Ramos 27 ml euros, CR7 94 ml euros, Alonso35 ml euros, Khedira undisclosed, Oezil 15 ml euros, Di Maria 25 ml euros, Higuain 13 ml euros.

FC Barcelona has brought up many players from its own ‘Barca youth academy.’ Thus the only signed players who play in their first team are:

Mascherano 25 ml euros, Abidal 15 ml euros, Keita 14 ml euros, Alves 27 ml euros, Villa 40 ml euros

Arsenal FC’s first team players are :

Luke undisclosed, Sagna 11 mil euros, Clichy undisclosed, SQ18 04 mil euros, Kosher 10 mil euros, Song 02 ml euros (actually 1.5 approx), Arshavin 17 ml euros, Nasri 15 ml euros.

Now if we sum up, Madrid’s entire first team costs 247 million euros. FC Barcelona’s entire first team costs 121 million euros. Even if you double this figure, it will be less than Real Madrid’s. And finally Arsenals entire first team costs 60 (approx.) million euros.

Now, after watching yesterday’s Clasico, FC Barcelona were undoubtedly better than Real Madrid, so my question is this.

What must Arsenal do to reach the same standard of FC Barcelona ? That standard where it can beat top-class teams with a margin of more than 2 goals.

For me, there is only 1 solution…..any guesses ???

Cheer-io,

THE ARMOURY

you will win NOTHING with our back four !

There is no goalkeeper on earth who
will do well with the four stooges in front
    of him

Forget the price tags, the whole team needs to work harder off the ball. For me the biggest difference between the way that the two teams approach games is that when Barca lose the ball at least 2 players are instantly harrying the opposition to get it back (or force a mistake)….we do this every once in a while for a short spell.

Yeah you are spot on but still need players like Messi in our team. Any of our player equal to half of Messi?

Arsenal players are not aggressive at all. They play as if they are hungry for success. Oh what a team? We always have the chance to win the league but lack the courage and confidence like Barcelona.. such a great team. Arsenal players do not inspire me at all. Hey guys be up and doing. U can win whatever trophy u want unless u stop that lack of concentration attitude of yours…

Totally agree mate. I always get the feeling the players just don’t have that killer instinct, that hunger to ‘win at all costs’ mentality.

of course we can look at a new GK or CB as a main issue, which is valid, but we must also change the attitude within the squad. So many times i’ve seen players make a mistake or miss a chance and they smile afterwards…..i mean who smiles when they do something wrong?!
