Jose Mourinho Confirms Interest In Signing £35m-Rated Man Utd Flop

Jose Mourinho has confirmed his interest in signing Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao this summer in order to help the striker get back to his best.

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Jose Mourinho confirms his interest in Radamel Falcao…

Colombia Radamel Falcao

Jose Mourinho has confirmed his interest in signing Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao this summer in order to help the striker get back to his best, according to reports.

Falcao has just come off the back of an extremely frustrating season on loan at Man Utd with form and fitness issues meaning the Colombian international managed just 4 goals in his 29 appearances for Louis van Gaal’s men.

It came as no surprise when United opted against signing the striker on a permanent basis but there were a few raised eyebrows when reports emerged linking Falcao with a potential move to Chelsea.

Speculation earlier this month claimed that Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes – who also represents Mourinho – was in talks with the Premier League champions over a deal to take the striker to Stamford Bridge.

The Mirror were one of several newspapers who suggested that Falcao was willing to take a huge pay cut on his £265,000-a-week wages to secure the move, with Monaco demanding around £35m for his signature.

It’s believed Chelsea would prefer to take the 29-year-old on loan first, but a potential deal now looks to be on the cards with Mourinho quoted by the Express as saying that he’s followed Falcao for some time and is willing to give him a chance to get back to his best form.

“It really hurts me that people in England believe that Falcao is the guy they saw at Manchester United,”

“He’s a player I know, one that I’ve followed since Atletico Madrid and if I can help Falcao arrive at his level I will do it.”

Mourinho is on the look out for another striker to replace Didier Drogba but it comes as something of a surprise that he’s ready to gamble on Falcao given how disappointing he was during his time at United.

However, if Mourinho can get the Colombian back to his best it could turn out to be a very shrewd signing. Falcao was once one of the deadliest striker’s in world football and has 200 goals in 305 so far in his club career, so he certainly knows where the goal is.

I think the key is getting the striker back to full fitness and getting him confident again, then we might start to see the best of Falcao again. We’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea can get a deal agreed with Monaco but it seems Mourinho is ready to offer the striker another chance in the Premier League next season.
