[Video Highlights] Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham: Walker O.G Gifts Utd 3 Points

An own goal from Kyle Walker midway through the first half was the difference as Manchester United started the new season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tottenham this afternoon.

Spurs started the brighter of the two sides but couldn’t make their dominance count and they were made to pay when Nabil Bentaleb’s loose ball led to a United breakaway, with Ashley Young finding the unmarked Wayne Rooney in acres of space inside the box.

Walker tried desperately to get back and poke the ball away before the England striker could get his shot away but he could only send the ball into the bottom corner of his own net for 1-0 in the 23rd minute.

United weren’t at their free-flowing best and didn’t register their first shot on target until midway through the second half, but Tottenham couldn’t force the equaliser at the other end so Louis van Gaal’s men ground out a narrow 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
