Raheem Sterling has risked the wrath of Liverpool supporters after posting a photo on Instagram with new Manchester City team-mate Fabian Delph with a message referring to the pair as ‘snakes’.

Sterling infuriated Liverpool fans after refusing to sign a new contract at Anfield before sealing a big-money move to the Etihad Stadium earlier this summer.

Fabian Delph was also public enemy No.1 at Villa Park after performing a dramatic u-turn to secure his own move to Manchester City back in July.

Both players were lambasted by their former supporters, with ‘snake’ just one of several names thrown in their direction by Liverpool and Villa fans over the past few weeks.

It appears Sterling has a sense of humour about it all as he’s taken to Instagram this afternoon to upload a photo of himself alongside Delph as the pair jetted off ahead of England’s qualifier on Saturday.

The attacker included a message saying ‘en route to San Marino’ along with two snake emoji’s and plane – making reference to the film ‘Snakes on a Plane’.

To be fair, it’s decent banter from Sterling and I’m not sure Liverpool fans will disagree too much with the sentiment, but they may not appreciate the player making a mockery of his fall-out with the Merseysiders.
