van Gaal Names His 20-Man Squad As Man Utd Fly-Out To Moscow

Louis van Gaal has named the 20-man squad that is set to fly-out to Moscow ahead of Manchester United’s clash with CSKA tomorrow night.

The United boss has taken three goalkeepers with him as number on David De Gea is joined by Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone on the plane while Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo will be hoping to keep their places in defence after being named in the squad.

Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind and Antonio Valencia are also named among the travelling party while Michael Carrick will be hoping for a recall in midfield after being left out during the 3-0 win at Everton on Saturday.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera are all named in the squad and they’ve been joined by youngsters Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard.

Wayne Rooney will be looking to build on his goal at Goodison Park while the rest of the attack will come from Memphis Depay, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata.

James Wilson trained this morning but hasn’t made the travelling party so he joins Paddy McNair, Ashley Young and Luke Shaw on the sidelines.

Man Utd head to Russia sitting second in Group B after recovering from an opening round defeat at PSV Eindhoven to beat Wolfsburg 2-1 at Old Trafford last time out.

However, all four teams are currently level on three points so the upcoming double-header against CSKA could prove crucial in determining whether United make it to the knockout stages of the competition.
