Petr Cech Arsenal

Arsenal produced a magnificent display to beat Bayern Munich 2-0 at the Emirates and give themselves a Champions League lifeline.

Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil got the goals but Petr Cech showed just how important it is to have a world class goalkeeper as he was outstanding between the sticks.

Here are my ratings:

Cech  9/10 | Outstanding. He produced a number of vital saves with the score at 0-0. His presence brings composure to the back four. Dealt with everything Bayern could throw at him. MOTM.

Bellerín  8.5/10 | Was given a bit of a tough time by Costa in the first half but was excellent after the break and his lung-busting run set-up the second goal in stoppage time.

Mertesacker  7.5/10 | Showed he’s still capable of mixing it with the best as he stood firm against his German counter parts.

Koscielny  8.5/10 | Superb performance and won the battle up against Lewandowski as he twice thwarted the in-form striker with excellent blocks. A rock at the back.

Monreal  8/10 | Another outstanding display from the ever-reliable Spaniard. Bayern thought he was the weak link as they targetted balls down his side but Monreal was up to the task.

Coquelin  8/10 | Played a vital role in breaking up Bayern attacks and worked his socks off in the middle of the park.

Cazorla  7/10 | A little subdued as he saw less of the ball than usual but still set-up the opening goal and played his part in a famous win.

Alexis  7/10 | Tried too hard at times as he lost possession when trying to dribble out in dangerous areas on several occasions but Alexis still worked hard for the team and was a danger on the ball.

Ozil  8/10 | Another superb display in a big game. Mesut worked tirelessly and secured the three points with a late goal.

Ramsey  7.5/10 | Nobody worked harder than Ramsey and his work-rate was vital in stifling Bayern’s rhythm but unfortunately he was forced off with a hamstring injury.

Walcott  7/10 | A real threat in the first half and was unlucky to see a close range header clawed off the line by Neuer. Saw less of the ball after the break.

Oxlade-Chamberlain  6/10 | His pace on the break caused Bayern problems. Has a real opportunity to impress over the coming weeks with Ramsey likely to be out.

Giroud 7.5/10 | Another important goal off the bench for Giroud and he’s making a name for himself as something of a super-sub.

Gibbs N/A

A crucial win keeps our qualification hopes alive but with Olympiakos winning in Zagreb, we’re going to have to hope the Greeks slip up at some point. Everton up next….
