Arsenal beat Everton 2-1 at the Emirates this evening to move top of the Premier League table thanks to first half goals from Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny.

The Gunners took a deserved lead in the 36th minute when Mesut Ozil found Giroud with a lovely ball before the Frenchman glanced home a header for 1-0.

We doubled our lead just two minutes later when Santi Cazorla’s excellent cross found Koscielny and the defender headed home for 2-0 in the 38th minute.

Everton pulled one back just before half time when Ross Barkley’s shot deflected off Gabriel and past Petr Cech for 2-1 in the 44th minute to set up an intriguing second forty five minutes.

The second half was an entertaining affair and Everton almost snatched a point late on but Petr Cech denied Romelu Lukaku with a superb save while Ozil clipped the post at the other end in stoppage time.

However, there were no further goals and Arsenal climb to the top of the league ahead of tomorrow’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
