Liverpool have been handed a major injury boost with skipper Jordan Henderson confirming he’s close to returning to action following a foot problem.

Henderson has been on the sidelines since suffering a broken foot way back in mid-August and was ruled out for at least three months after undergoing surgery.

The Reds captain has therefore yet to play under new boss Jurgen Klopp following his appointment last month but that’s set to change over the coming weeks.

The 25-year-old returned to preliminary training at Melwood last week and Klopp confirmed over the weekend that his skipper could rejoin full training with the rest of his team mates this week.

Henderson has now been speaking to Liverpoolfc.com and revealed that after a tough time on the sidelines, he’s now edging closer to making his comeback. He told the club’s website:

“I’m getting there,”

“This is one of the longest periods of time I’ve been out for and that has been tough for me. Hopefully I’m not too far away now.”

Henderson’s return will come as a major boost to Liverpool as his drive and energy have been missed in recent months, and I think his style of play will fit in perfectly with Klopp’s vision.

However, the midfielder may have a job getting his place back after Liverpool’s sensational performance during their 4-1 thrashing of Manchester City on Saturday evening. Emre Can has been impressive alongside Lucas Leiva in the middle of the park so it will be interesting to see where Klopp sees Henderson fitting in when he is finally back in contention.
