Transfer News: Man Utd Boosted In Attacker Pursuit | Chelsea Star Eyes Dream Move
With the winter transfer window closed, manager’s are now looking ahead towards the summer and planning deals for next season. Today, Manchester United receive a boost in their pursuit of James Rodriguez while Chelsea star Eden Hazard is prepared to bide his time to get his dream move to Real Madrid….
Man Utd receive Rodriguez boost
First up and according to the Daily Star, Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of James Rodriguez with Real Madrid ready to cash-in on the attacker if his form doesn’t improve over the coming months.
Rodriguez became a world-wide star after putting in some outstanding performances for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil and it earned him a big-money move to Madrid that summer.
However, after an encouraging debut season in Spain, the 24-year-old has struggled this term and is fighting to win his first team place back after falling out of favour under former boss Rafa Benitez.
It’s led to speculation that Rodriguez could be sold this summer and the Daily Star report claims that Manchester United have already held preliminary talks with his agent Jorge Mendes about a possible move to Old Trafford.
The newspaper also cites a report coming from Spanish outlet Sport which suggests that Madrid are now considering cashing in on the attacker this summer if things don’t improve during the second half of the season.
Obviously it would be a major coup if United could lure Rodriguez to the Premier League as despite his troubles this season, he’s still a world class player who would be a huge asset to their squad.
It’s not easy to shine in a team that also includes the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, so I’m sure Rodriguez would rediscover his best form if he was able to take centre stage at United.
Madrid have proven in the past that they aren’t scared of selling top players if they feel it’s warranted, so this is certainly one story worth keeping an eye on, and I’d love to see Rodriguez plying his trade here in England next season.
Hazard eyes Madrid
Madrid could have the perfect replacement for Rodriguez lined-up with the Daily Mail claiming that Eden Hazard is ready to snub all offers and wait for his dream move to the Bernabeu.
Hazard’s future is expected to come under scrutiny this summer with Chelsea almost certain to miss out on Champions League qualification and the rumour mill is already suggesting he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian international has struggled to replicate the kind of form that saw him named as the PFA Player of the Year last season but his stock remains high and there are sure to be plenty of takers if he wants a move this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for the attacker but the Mail says that the 25-year-old will snub a return to Ligue 1 and is prepared to wait for his ‘dream’ move to Madrid to come to fruition.
The newspaper says Hazard has his heart set on joining Madrid in order to play under his boyhood hero Zinedine Zidane but state that it would take a fee in the region of £80m to persuade Chelsea to sell.
It remains to be seen whether Madrid will be prepared to pay that kind of money but as suggested in the previous story, the Spaniard’s may decide to sell Rodriguez to United in order to fund their swoop for Hazard.
It’s already gearing up to be an exciting summer, and it’s only February, so we’ll keep you up-to-date on all these stories and more over the coming months….
