Aston Villa vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction

Liverpool take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score

Villa-Park

Liverpool will look to climb up the Premier League table when they take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds saw their top four hopes dashed after letting slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with relegation threatened Sunderland at Anfield last weekend.

That result has left the Merseysiders sitting down in 11th place in the table and 12 points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City so they desperately need a win tomorrow to stand any chance of qualifying for the Champions League next term.

Jurgen Klopp’s side also crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of West Ham in midweek so the German coach will be demanding a response from his players at Villa Park on Sunday.

Villa have endured a disastrous season so far but last weeks win over Norwich has given them a glimmer of hope that they could pull off a miracle and escape the drop, despite Reme Garde’s men sitting eight points from safety.

Team news

Liverpool will assess how Daniel Sturridge reacted after playing 60 minutes against West Ham in midweek after finally overcoming his latest injury woes, but I don’t think Klopp will risk him from the start tomorrow.

Philippe Coutinho came through his comeback unscathed so should be fit to keep his place in attack but Joe Allen has been ruled out after picking up a muscle injury last weekend.

Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren are back in training but this game will come too soon so Kolo Toure is expected to start alongside Mamadou Sakho at the back – although Steven Caulker is in contention after recovering from a knock.

Villa will be without midfielder Jack Grealish after he suffered an ankle injury in training but Rude Gestede and Carlos Sanchez could return to the squad after hamstring injuries.

Alan Hutton is available but Libor Kozak (ankle), Adama Traore (foot) and Jordan Amavi (knee) are all sidelined.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool: Inconsistent form has plagued Liverpool all season but they must be confident of getting all three points at Villa – who seem doomed for the drop. With the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge back in the squad, I think the visitors will have too much for Villa tomorrow.

Betting Tips

Liverpool are the 5/6 favourites but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 6/1 on a Liverpool win – just click here to take advantage of this limited time offer . My prediction of 2-1 is available at odds of 8/1 while I also like the look of Firmino to open the scoring at 9/2. If you combined those two bets in a score-cast then we get very tempting odds of 22/1.
