[Video Goals] Chelsea 5-1 Newcastle: Pedro Hits Double As Blues Thrash Magpies

By on February 13, 2016

Pedro Rodriguez hit two as Chelsea thrashed Newcastle United 5-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.

The Blues got off to the perfect start when Diego Costa latched on to Willian’s superb throughball to slot home the opener in the 5th minute before Pedro got his first of the game after racing clear to make it 2-0 inside the opening 10 minutes.

The game was pretty-much over in the 17th minute when Willian made it 3-0 before Pedro got his second of the game, and Chelsea’s fourth, as the Spaniard raced on to Cesc Fabregas’s long pass to fire past Elliot in the 59th minute.

Chelsea substitute Bertrand Traore slid home the fifth and while Newcastle pulled one back late on through Andros Townsend, the hosts eased to a 5-1 win at thew Bridge.

The victory sees Chelsea climb up to 12th place in the Premier League table but they remain 14 points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City so Champions League football is almost certainly beyond them this year.
