Arsenal star Gabriel Paulista has flown back to Brazil to undergo treatment on his hamstring injury with former club Victoria, according to Sky Sports Brazilian correspondent Paulo Freitas.

Gabriel was in-line to start his fourth consecutive game against Leicester City on Sunday but was ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury in training on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has now flown back to his homeland to undergo treatment with his old club Victoria, with Freitas posting a photo of Gabriel on the treatment table on Twitter [see below].

There’s been no indication from Arsenal as to how long the defender will be on the sidelines for but if he’s been allowed to travel back to Brazil for treatment you’d have to assume the injury was at least moderately serious.

Even a minor hamstring problem can mean 10 days out, so it looks as though Gabriel is now set to miss our FA Cup fifth round clash with Hull on Saturday as well as next week’s huge Champions League last-16 first leg against Barcelona. He could also be in a race against time to be fit for our trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on the 28th.

We’ll have to wait for an update from Arsenal but it looks as though Calum Chambers could now come in to the starting eleven against the Tigers this weekend. Thankfully the youngster looked in fine form when he replaced Laurent Koscielny against Leicester City on Sunday.
