By on February 22, 2016

Manchester United eased in to the quarter finals of the FA Cup with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on Monday night.

The visitors started brightly and opened the scoring in the 37th minute when defender Chris Smalling latched on to a headed knock down from Morgan Schneiderlin to fire home via a deflected shot.

United took control of the game on the stroke of half-time when Spanish international Juan Mata curled home a superb free-kick from the edge of the area in first half stoppage time.

Any hopes of a second half comeback from Shrewsbury were all-but over when Jesse Lingard slotted home from a superb Ander Herrera pass in the 61st minute to make it 0-3 and ensure United eased in to the next stage of the competition where they’ll now play West Ham at Old Trafford.
