The Manchester United squad have been undertaking their final preparations at their AON training complex today ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Liverpool.

The Red Devils head to Anfield tomorrow for the last-16 first leg and United boss Louis van Gaal confirmed a double boost at his pre-match press conference this morning with Antonio Valencia and Bastian Schweinsteiger taking part in full training ahead of the game.

Valencia hasn’t played since suffering a broken foot against Manchester City in October but the Ecuadorian international is expected to be back on the bench against Liverpool tomorrow after resuming full first team training over the past week.

Schweinsteiger has also been back out on the training pitch this week after being out with a hamstring injury for almost two months, but van Gaal will have to make a late decision over whether the German international is fit enough to return to the squad tomorrow.

Chris Smalling continued to build on his fitness in training having made a successful return from a shoulder injury against West Brom on Sunday and the centre-back is expected to retain his place an Anfield on Thursday night.
