Man Utd vs West Ham Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score

Man Utd entertain West Ham in the FA Cup on Sunday. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score for the game

Manchester United will be hoping to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup when they host West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Louis van Gaal is going to have to pick his players up following their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the first leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday night, which saw the Reds register just one shot on target.

With United also currently sitting outside of the top four in the league, the FA Cup has become the most realistic way for van Gaal to salvage something from a hugely disappointing campaign so far.

The Red Devils eased in to the quarter finals with a comfortable 3-0 win at Shrewsbury Town last month and they’ll now be looking to secure their place at Wembley in the last four.

However, that’s not going to be an easy task against an in-form West Ham side that moved up to fifth in the table with a 3-2 comeback win over Everton at Goodison Park last week.

Slaven Bilic has created a very useful team at Upton Park and they come in to the game having won their last four in all competitions so will be quietly confident of beating United to book their place at Wembley.

Team news

Untied will be without the suspended Juan Mata for the game following his sending off against West Brom last weekend but Jesse Lingard returns from his own European ban in midweek.

Bastian Schweinsteiger made a successful return to action off the bench on Thursday night but he’s unlikely to be deemed fit enough to start just yet so Morgan Schneiderlin should join Michael Carrick in midfield.

Antonio Valencia played for the under-21’s on Friday night so he won’t be in the squad and remains unavailable along with Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Will Keane.

West Ham have been handed a triple injury boost with Enner Valencia, Victor Moses and Joey O’Brien all back in the squad after recovering from injuries.

Winston Reid is also close to making his comeback but this game comes too soon so he remains unavailable along with James Tomkins and James Collins, while Sam Byram is cup-tied.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Man Utd 2-1 West Ham: United were dreadful against Liverpool in midweek and they have no chance of getting a result against West Ham if they play like that again. van Gaal is going to demand a response from his players and I think he might get one on home soil. United should be desperate to progress in the FA Cup as it’s their only realistic chance of silverware this season, so I’m backing them to edge this one 2-1.

Betting Tips

Man Utd are the even money favourites but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 7/1 on a home win – just click here to take advantage of this limited time offer. My prediction of 2-1 is available at odds of 8/1 while I also like the look of Martial to open the scoring at 9/2. If you combined those two bets in a score-cast then we get very tempting odds of 22/1.
