Transfer News: Liverpool Join Tottenham In Race For £30m-Rated Hitman

Liverpool are ready to battle-it-out with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur over the signing of Marseille’s £30m-rated striker Michy Batshuayi.

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool join the chase for Michy Batshuayi….

Liverpool are ready to battle-it-out with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur over the signing of Marseille’s £30m-rated striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, according to the Mirror.

Batshuayi came through the youth ranks at Standard Liege having joined the club as a teenager and soon forged a reputation as one of the most talented young strikers in European football.

The 22-year-old only joined Marseille in the summer of 2014 but has settled in to life well in Ligue 1 with the Belgian international scoring 20 goals and providing 10 assists for the French giants so far this season.

That kind of form has attracted interest from throughout Europe and the Mirror claim that Liverpool have now joined Tottenham in the race for his signature while the likes of West Ham and Juventus are also understood to be keeping an eye on developments.

Spurs are currently enjoying an excellent season with the North Londoners still in with a chance of winning the title but Maurcio Pochettino knows he’s been hugely reliant on Harry Kane up front and it looks like he’s identified Batshuayi as a player who could help ease the load next season.

However, it appears Tottenham will now face stiff competition from Liverpool as the Mirror suggest that Jurgen Klopp is also on the look-out for striking reinforcements and is planning a move for the £30m-rated Batshuayi this summer.

Christian Benteke is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season after enduring a frustrating campaign and it appears the Merseysiders have lined-up Batshuayi as a potential replacement.

Divock Origi has developed in to a fine striker in recent months and is currently keeping Daniel Sturridge out of the starting eleven but Klopp wants another front-man this summer to give himself plenty of options next season as Liverpool look to make a real challenge for the title.

Batshuayi is certainly an exciting young talent who has all the ingredients to be a top class striker so I think he’d be an excellent addition if either Liverpool or Tottenham were able to get a deal agreed with Marseille.
