Manchester United are confident of signing Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer as long as Real Madrid don’t step-up their interest

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are confident of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer…

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Manchester United are confident of signing Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer as long as Real Madrid don’t step-up their interest in the player, according to the Daily Mail.

Aubameyang has become one of the most feared strikers in world football this season after scoring an incredible 36 goals in just 42 games in all competitions for Dortmund so far this campaign.

That sensational form has understandably attracted interest from some of Europe’s most powerful clubs with the Daily Mail claiming that Man Utd and Real Madrid are among those who are monitoring his situation closely ahead of the summer.

The newspaper suggests that following meetings last week, United have made Aubameyang their number one transfer target and will pursue the Gabon international no matter who’s in charge of the club amid speculation that either Ryan Giggs or Jose Mourinho will replace Louis van Gaal at the end of the season.

Dortmund will do all they can to keep hold of Aubameyang as he’s a vital player for them but the Daily Mail suggests that the German outfit would cash-in at £70m and United are confident of luring the striker to Old Trafford as long as Madrid don’t enter the bidding.

The Spanish giants are expected to be on the look-out for a world class striker this summer and may turn to Aubameyang if they fail to sign Robert Lewandowksi from Bayern Munich, so United will be hoping they manage to land the Polish international.

With Wayne Rooney struggling with injury problems in recent months, United have lacked options up front this season and van Gaal has been forced to turn to teenage striker Marcus Rashford during the second half of the season.

The 18-year-old has proven to be a huge hit with 7 goals in his 15 games so far but United will still need to bring in a new striker if they are going to start challenging for top honours again and the club appear determined to sign Aubameyang this summer.
