Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Watford on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds will be on cloud nine after booking their place in the final of the Europa League thanks to a relatively comfortable 3-1 aggregate victory over Villarreal on Thursday night.

The Merseysiders have little left to play for in the Premier League though as they head in to the weekend action sitting eighth in the table so I think Jurgen Klopp will throw everything at winning the final later this month to lift a trophy and secure Champions League qualification.

Therefore, Liverpool are likely to field a weakened team against Watford tomorrow afternoon and but Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson doesn’t think that will stop the Reds easing to a 2-0 victory over Watford at Anfield.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, he said:

Liverpool v Watford – Sunday, 4pm

After their Europa League win, surely Liverpool have to rest their key players until the final, it’s their chance of getting through to the Champions League.

Football has gone mad with this Quique Sanchez Flores situation. This is the first time they’ve stayed up after being promoted to the Premier League, and he got them to the semi-final of an FA Cup. They got promoted last year and sacked the manager, so nothing surprises me. The problem is, they don’t get it wrong too often, so you can’t be too judgmental. We’ll have to see, they just want to keep improving.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-0

A win for Liverpool tomorrow would at least give them a chance of finishing sixth in the table which should be enough to secure a route back in to the Europa League next year, should they lose against Sevilla in the Europa final on May 18th.
