Arsenal Open Formal Talks Over £60m Double Swoop

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are looking to sign both N’Golo Kante and Riyah Mahrez….

Arsenal have opened talks with Premier League champions Leicester City over a stunning £60m double deal to sign N’Golo Kante and Riyah Mahrez this summer, according to the Express.

Arsene Wenger is under pressure to spend some of our vast cash reserves this summer after we blew our best chance to win the title in over a decade and it looks as though he’s ready to raid the newly-crowned champions for two of their star men.

Kante has been a revelation at Leicester since joining the club from Caen last summer and his tireless displays in the middle of the park were a key reason behind the Foxes shock title success this season.

Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are set to leave the club next month so we need to bring in another central midfielder and it looks as though Wenger has set his sights on Kante being the man for the job.

The Express claim that the French international has a £20m release clause written in to his contract so Leicester are resigned to losing him this summer and Arsenal have now opened formal talks with the champions to try and lure him to the Emirates.

However, Kante isn’t the only Leicester player on Wenger’s radar as the newspaper suggests that we’ve also enquired about Mahrez and are trying to negotiate a double deal with the Foxes.

Mahrez has enjoyed a sensational season with his 17 goals and 10 assists earning him the PFA Player of the Year Award so understandably Leicester are desperate to keep hold of the winger as they prepare to play in the Champions League next season.

With Theo Walcott’s future in doubt, it appears Wenger has identified Mahrez as a potential replacement and the Express suggest that the 25-year-old will be valued at around £40m.

That means that a double deal will set Arsenal back in the region of £60m but it would certainly be money well spent as both Kante and Mahrez have been outstanding this season.

We won’t be the only club in the running for their signature’s and it’s certainly not going to be easy to complete this double swoop but it would be an excellent piece of business if Wenger could pull it off this summer.

What complete and absolute rubbish 🙂 … for ‘formal talks’ insert ‘wishful thinking’ by a deluded goon … we have billionaire owners, we don’t have to sell anyone … we are the Champions elect … and next year this wonderful ‘team’ will be playing in the Champions League …. why on earth join a bunch of perennial under-acheivers? … how many years without the title?
