The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with a Belgian youngster while Philippe Coutinho is linked with PSG….

Liverpool close in on Bastien

First up, and the Daily Mail are reporting that Liverpool are in talks over a £4million deal to sign Anderlecht midfielder Samuel Bastien this summer.

The 19-year-old has just come off the back of an impressive season on loan at Avellino and the Serie B outfit have the option to make the move a permanent one.

However, the Mail claim that Liverpool have now moved themselves in to pole position to sign the talented midfielder after opening formal talks with Anderlecht over a potential £4m deal.

Bastien is a skillful midfielder who’s already been capped by the Belgium national team at Under-19 and Under-21 level so he certainly looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

Jurgen Klopp has already signed three new players this summer with goalkeeper Loris Karius, defender Joel Matip and midfielder Marko Grujic all arriving to strenghten the first team squad ahead of next season.

However, should Bastien become Klopp’s fourth new signing, the youngster is likely to be nothing more than a squad player for now as he won’t be ready to push for a first team place at Liverpool just yet.

PSG eye Coutinho

Next up and the Daily Star are carrying a worrying report that claims French champions Paris Saint-Germain are lining-up a mammoth £46m move for Philippe Coutinho this summer.

Coutinho was Liverpool’s stand-out player once again last season with the Brazilian international producing a series of magnificent displays to be named as the clubs Player of the Season for the second consecutive year.

The 23-year-old scored 12 goals and provided 7 assists in his 43 appearances and was a central figure in the Merseysiders march towards the final of the Europa League, where they lost to Sevilla.

However, it looks as though Coutinho is now attracting interest from across the channel as the Daily Star are citing reports coming from French outlet Le10 Sport that claim PSG have now set their sights on the Liverpool playmaker.

The report suggests that should the Ligue 1 giants fail with their ambitious moves for Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, then they’ll launch a £46m bid to lure Coutinho away from Anfield this summer.

I’m sure Liverpool will do all they can to hang on to the South American and Klopp will be praying the clubs owners are strong enough to resist should PSG come in with this reported £46m offer, as it would be a huge blow if they were to lose a player of Coutinho’s quality.

£45m from PSG? Nah. The transfer committee would be silly to accept that bid from PSG. £60m from PSG for Coutinho would be much more acceptable. The existing calibre of average players such as Henderson, Lucas, Allen, Mignolet, Skrtel etc on show at Anfield leaves Coutinho trophy-hungry. Unless Liverpool’s famed transfer committee starts getting serious in beefing up Klopp’s squad, else i don’t see any world class players staying on at Anfield.
