President Confirms Man Utd Approach For Mexican Attacker

The vice-president of Mexican club Pachuca has confirmed that Manchester United have made an approach to sign highly-rated attacker Hirving Lozano

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Hirving Lozano….

The vice-president of Mexican club Pachuca has confirmed that Manchester United have made an approach to sign highly-rated attacker Hirving Lozano, according to the Express.

Jose Moutinho was unveilled as the new United manager last month and the Portuguese coach is expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad he’s inherited from Louis van Gaal.

Several big names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks as Mourinho looks to build a team capable of challenging for the title but it looks as though the club are also looking ahead to the future by bringing in some of the world’s top young talent.

That’s because Jesus Martinez – the vice-president of Mexican outfit Pachuca – has confirmed that United have made an approach for highly-rated winger Hirving Lozano but he says no immediate decision will be made over the 20-year-old’s future.

Martinez is quoted as saying by the Express:

“There have been approaches [from Manchester United],”

“There will be time to focus on the future of Hirving Lozano.

“For several years Pachuca has had great relationships with many teams of England, in Portugal, in Spain, in France, in Italy and in Germany.

“[There] are some agreements that allow the player to go to Europe in the future.”

Lozano has been with Pachuca his entire career having joined them as a teenager and he’s progressed through their youth ranks before breaking in to the first team squad in 2014.

The young attacker has gone on to score 29 goals in his 103 appearances and his potential has seen him rewarded with a call up to the senior Mexican team having been picked in Mexico’s Copa America Centenario squad.

Lozano is unlikely to qualify for a work permit given he’s only got 3 international caps to his name so the chances are he’d have to be sent out on loan for a couple of years to gain a European passport if he was to join United this summer.

However, given his obvious potential, the attacker may qualify for an ‘exceptional talent’ visa meaning he could yet be available for United next season if Mourinho feels he’s ready to compete for a place in the first team squad.

Obviously Lozano isn’t an established name who’s going to have a huge impact on the team straight away but it’s good to see United still looking ahead to the future and maybe we’ll see Mourinho start to give more youth players a chance at Old Trafford.
