Arsenal Set To Trump Spurs After Agreeing Deal To Sign Talented Defender

Arsenal look set to beat Tottenham to the signing of Rob Holding after agreeing a £1.5m deal with Bolton Wanderers to sign the highly-rateddefender this summer

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal close-in on the signing of Rob Holding….

Arsenal look set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Rob Holding after agreeing a £1.5m deal with Bolton Wanderers to sign the highly-rated centre-back this summer, according to the Express.

Holding has emerged as one of the hottest young talents outside of the Premier League having progressed through the Bolton youth ranks before breaking in to the their first team set-up at the start of last season.

The 20-year-old excelled in a struggling Trotters side and his impressive displays saw him named as their Player of the Season by supporters despite the club being relegated to League One.

Holding’s potential has attracted interest from some of the Premier League’s most powerful teams with the Express claiming that Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs that have been keen on luring away from the Macron Stadium.

However, it looks as though the Gunners are now set to beat their North London rivals to the young defenders signature as the newspaper says that Arsenal have now agreed a deal worth £1.5m, which includes various performance-related add ons.

The Express cite Football Insider as their source and claim that with Holding understood to be keen to make the move to the Emirates, Arsenal upped their bid after seeing an opening £750,000 offer rejected by Bolton.

So it appears Arsene Wenger is closing-in on making his second signing of the summer transfer window with Holding set to follow Swiss international midfielder Granit Xhaka to the club following his arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach last month.

Should Holding secure his move to the Emirates, it could see Calum Chambers make a loan move away from the club this summer after failing to establish himself at Arsenal following his move from Southampton.

Like Chambers, Holding is predominantly a central defender but is also capable of playing at right-back if needed, so there is unlikely to be room for both the England Under-21 international’s in Wenger’s squad next season.
