Arsenal & Chelsea Target Eyeing Move After Confirming Offers From ‘Big Clubs’

Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly after the Napoli defender confirmed contract extension talks have stalled

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Kalidou Koulibaly speaks out about his future….

Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly after the defender confirmed he has offers from ‘big clubs’ and could leave Napoli after contract extension talks stalled, according to the Metro.

Koulibaly has developed in to one of the best centre-back’s in Italy and has just come off the back of an excellent campaign with his rock solid displays helping Napoli finish runners-up in the Serie A table behind eventual champions Juventus.

The Senegalese international’s impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with Express reporting late last month that both Arsenal and Chelsea are showing a keen interest in luring the defender to England this summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly in the market for a new central defender to partner Laurent Koscielny next season after Per Mertesacker and Gabriel failed to make the position their own last year and Koulibaly would certainly provide a much-needed physical presence at the back.

However, Chelsea arguably hold the most serious in the 24-year-old with incoming boss Antonio Conte seemingly eyeing Koulibaly as a long-term replacement for John Terry as he looks to overhaul the Blues squad following a disastrous campaign.

The London duo have now received a boost in their pursuit of the defender as after he confirmed ‘big clubs’ want to sign him this summer, Koulibaly revealed that contract extension talks with Napoli have stalled.

The powerful defender says that while he is yet to hold talks with the likes of Antonio Conte, he will seek negotiations with other clubs soon and suggested the Premier League would be a good fit for his style of play.

Koulibaly is quoted as saying by the Metro:

‘Big clubs want to sign me and there is no sign of a renewal with Napoli,’

‘The negotiations for a contract extension have stalled and they never wanted to discuss with us.

‘No, I have not talked to [Antonio Conte] but that may be soon. If nothing happens at Napoli, I will start to have contact with other clubs.

‘The game In England could be suitable for me but I like Italy, I do not press for a transfer but I hope to sign a renewal with Napoli or we proceed to other solutions.

‘Napoli also wants to make money.’

We’ll have to wait and see whether Koulibaly is able to find an agreement with Napoli or if the Italian outfit decide it’s best to cash-in but the centre-back would be an excellent signing for either Arsenal or Chelsea if they were able to get a deal agreed.

Koulibaly stands at 6ft 5ins so he would bring a real presence at the back for either club and he’s known for his physical approach so he should have no problems adapting to life in England.
