The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Piotr Zielinski….

Liverpool have submitted a £9.5m offer for Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski as Jurgen Klopp closes-in on making his fourth major signing of the summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Zielinski has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent months after putting in some impressive performances during his two-year loan spell at Emploi from fellow Serie A side Udinese.

The Express reported recently that Klopp has been scouting the Polish international for several months and was supposedly close to making a formal move during the January transfer window but decided to wait until the summer to formailise his interest.

It looks like the German coach has done just that as the Mirror are carrying a quote from Sky Sports Italia journalist Guglielmo Cannavale who claims that Liverpool have tabled an opening offer worth £9.5m (€12m) for the playmaker.

The reporter suggests that the Merseysiders could face stiff competition from Napoli as they are also in talks with Udinese but Zielinski is believed to favour a move to Liverpool.

Cannavale is quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“Liverpool have offered €12M for Zielinski, he would like to join #LFC. Napoli still in race: talks ongoing with Udinese.”

These reports come just weeks after Zielinski fuelled speculation that he was on the verge of moving to Anfield after being snapped wearing a Liverpool shirt:

The playmaker has also been quoted as talking up Klopp as being one of the best managers around so it does appear that the 21-year-old is keen on joining Liverpool this summer, so it’s up to the clubs to agree a fee.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Udinese accept Liverpool’s reported offer or hold out for more but if he does end up joining the Reds then he’ll become Klopp’s fourth signing of the summer following Loris Karius, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip to Anfield.
