Transfer News: Arsenal Lining-Up Swoop For £11.5m Hitman

The Mirror are carrying a report claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to sign Inter Milan’s £11.5m-rated striker Stevan Jovitic this summer.

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with a move for Stevan Jovetic…..

The Mirror are carrying a report claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to sign Inter Milan’s £11.5m-rated striker Stevan Jovitic this summer.

Wenger is on the look out for striking reinforcements after losing Danny Welbeck for nine months to a serious knee injury and with his pursuit of Jamie Vardy stalling, it’s left the Gunners boss looking at alternative targets.

A surprise name has now resurfaced with the Mirror citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Arsenal are trying to sign Inter Milan forward Jovetic but could face competition from Spartak Moscow.

Jovetic spent last season on loan at Inter following an unsuccessful two year stint at Manchester City that saw him score 11 times in 39 appearances but his time back in Italy wasn’t much better as he scored just 7 goals in his 25 games for the Serie A giants.

The Mirror say that Inter have an obligation to make the Montenegro international’s loan move permanent by paying City £11.5m this summer but the Italians are hoping to immediately resell the player for the same price as he no longer fits in to Roberto Mancini’s plans.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Wenger decides to match Inter’s asking price but Jovetic could be an intriguing signing for the North Londoners as he’s capable of playing anywhere across the front line.

That means he could offer competition to French hitman Olivier Giroud through the middle or play out on the wings if required, making him a useful replacement for the injured Welbeck.

His time in England didn’t go according to plan but he wasn’t exactly given a lot of opportunities at the Etihad and at 26, Jovetic still has plenty of time ahead of him to resurrect his career, so perhaps he’ll get that opportunity in North London.
