Chelsea Could Land £40m Man Utd Target As Part Of Mega Deal With Euro Giants

Chelsea could win the race for Manchester United target Alvaro Morata with Real Madrid ready to offer the £40m-rated striker plus £35m for Eden Hazard

The opening of the summer transfer window is almost upon us so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea could land Man Utd target Alvaro Morata….

Chelsea could win the race for Manchester United target Alvaro Morata with Real Madrid ready to offer the £40m-rated striker plus £35m for Eden Hazard this summer, according to the Mirror.

Morata’s future has been filling the back pages in recent weeks after it became clear that Madrid had activated a £23m buyback clause that was inserted in to the deal that saw him join Juventus two years ago.

The Champions League winners are then expected to sell Morata on at a huge profit with the Express reporting that Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs who have been showing a keen interest in bringing him to the Premier League.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed on Thursday afternoon that he was set to join United but new boss Jose Mourinho is still expected to bring in further reinforcements as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for the title.

Another striker could be needed as Wayne Rooney’s future looks to be in a deeper midfield role and Mourinho knows Morata extremely well having been the man to hand him his debut during their time at Madrid.

However, it looks like Chelsea could be favourites to land the 23-year-old hitman as the Mirror claim that Madrid are ready to use the £40m-rated Spanish international as bait to land long-term target Eden Hazard.

Madrid have been hotly tipped to make a move for the Belgian international this summer and the newspaper suggests they will offer Chelsea Morata plus £35m in cash meaning the entire deal would be worth around £75m.

Hazard endured a difficult campaign last season and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be part of Antonio Conte’s plans next year but you’d expect the Blues hierarchy would be reluctant to let the 25-year-old leave – although the chance to land Morata and have £35m available for Conte to bring in another attacker could be tempting.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but my gut feeling is that nothing will come of this as it’s extremely rare that big-money player-plus-cash swap deals happen in modern day football as the deals are just to complex.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see where Morata ends up this summer and while United will be keen to lure him to Old Trafford, Conte also knows the player well as he was the man to take him to Juventus in 2014 and the Blues desperately need another striker to support Diego Costa next season.
