French Star Flies-In To Hold Talks Over Big-Money Man Utd Move

By on July 5, 2016

The opening of the summer transfer window is now open so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Blaise Matuidi….

Blaise Matuidi flew in to England to hold talks with Manchester United over a summer move from Paris Saint-Germain after being offered to the Red Devils by super-agent Mino Raiola, according to a report in the Express.

Matuidi joined PSG from Saint-Etienne in 2011 and has developed in to one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe over the past five years, helping the French giants secure four consecutive Ligue 1 titles and three domestic trebles.

The 29-year-old has also been a regular for the French national team and will be hoping to earn his 50th cap during the hosts Euro 2016 semi-final clash with Germany on Thursday night.

Matuidi has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and the speculation intensified when news emerged suggesting he had been given permission to leave France’s training base on Monday evening to fly to England for transfer talks with a mystery club.

The Express claim that United are the club in question with Matuidi arriving in Manchester to discuss a big-money move to Old Trafford after the midfielder was offered to the Red Devils by super-agent Mino Raiola.

The newspaper suggests that PSG are happy to sell the player after wrapping-up a deal to sign Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak at the weekend so it looks like Matuidi could become the third Raiola client to sign for United following the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Nothing official has come out from any club yet and it’s understood that Matuidi arrived back at the French camp in Clairefontaine on Monday night to prepare for the Germany game later this week.

We’ll have to see how things progress over the coming days but Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he’s still looking to bring in at least one more key signing this summer and it looks as though Matuidi could be that player.

United have also been strongly linked with a move for Paul Pogba but with Juventus demanding huge money for the 23-year-old, Matuidi could be viewed as the ideal, cheaper, alternative as the two players have a similar playing style.

Obviously most fans would prefer to see Pogba head back to Old Trafford but Matuidi would also be a superb signing and he’d add some physicality to the midfield if he does end up joining United this summer.
