Matuidi Also Eyeing £22m Move To Arsenal Or Chelsea Amid Reports Of Man Utd Talks

By on July 6, 2016

The opening of the summer transfer window is now open so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Blaise Matuidi has his eye on a move to the Premier League….

Blaise Matuidi is interested in moving to the Premier League this summer with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs he’s hoping will put forward offers for his services, according to talkSPORT.

Matuidi has been with Paris Saint-Germain since joining the club from Saint-Etienne in 2010 and he’s developed in to one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe over the last five years.

However, after helping the French giants win four consecutive Ligue 1 titles and three domestic trebles, the 29-year-old looks set to leave the Parc des Prince this summer after PSG signed Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla last weekend.

The Polish midfielder’s arrival is likely to see Matuidi move-on and he could be heading to the Premier League as talkSPORT are citing reports coming out of France that claim the midfielder is hoping to receive offers from top English clubs this summer.

The news comes after the Express reported that Matuidi had been given permission to leave the French training camp to fly to Manchester for talks with United earlier this week.

Jose Mourinho has already agreed to sign three new players this summer but he admitted yesterday that he still wants to bring in at least one more big name and Matuidi is reportedly being eyed as a cheaper alternative to Juventus star Paul Pogba.

However, talkSPORT suggests that Matuidi would consider a move to any of the top English clubs with Arsenal and Chelsea among those named as being of interest to the midfielder with the French international understood to be available for around £22m this summer.

Arsene Wenger has already signed Granit Xhaka so it’s unlikely the Gunners will show any serious interest in Matuidi unless one of their other midfielders are sold but Chelsea could be tempted as Antonio Conte looks to put his own stamp on the squad at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian tactician is expected to play his preferred 3-5-2 formation at Chelsea next season but the system requires a hard-working, box-to-box midfielder and Matuidi could fit the bill perfectly.

However, the report claims that as yet no Premier League club has submitted a formal bid for the player and Matuidi is understood to be waiting patiently to see if any English sides make offers for his signature this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see whether the likes of United, Arsenal or Chelsea make their interest official but I think Matuidi would be an excellent signing as he has all the attributes needed to be a success here in the Premier League.

Any potential move for the midfield powerhouse will have to wait a little while longer though as Matuidi is currently in his homeland preparing for Thursday night’s huge Euro 2016 semi-final clash with Germany.
