Tottenham Hold Talks With Agent As Spurs Battle Liverpool For La Liga Attacker

The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham to battle Liverpool for Barcelona winger….

Tottenham Hotspur have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Cristian Tello and have already held talks with the Barcelona winger’s agent about a potential move to London, according to the Daily Star.

Tello is a product of the Barca youth academy but has struggled to force his way in to Luis Enrique’s first team squad and has spent the last two seasons out on loan with Porto and Fiorentina respectively.

After making just 59 La Liga appearances for the Catalans, the 24-year-old is now expected to leave the Nou Camp on a permanent basis as he searches for regular football and it looks as though he’s going to be offered the chance to start resurrect his career in the Premier League.

That’s because the Daily Star claim that Tottenham have now joined the Liverpool and Swansea in the race to sign Tello this summer with the trio now all understood to be weighing-up bids.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has already signed two new players this summer but is still hoping to further strengthen his attack following the arrival of striker Vincent Janssen earlier this week and the Argentine coach knows Tello well as he was in charge when the youngster was on the books at Espanyol.

Liverpool have also been active in the market this summer but Jurgen Klopp is still on the look out for further reinforcements and Tello could be viewed as a replacement for Jordon Ibe – who’s set to join Bournemouth.

However, the Reds may have some catching up to do as the Daily Star claim that Tello’s agent, Joseph Maria Orotbig, travelled to London recently to try and negotiate a move to White Hart Lane.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Tello was once regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Spain and played for his country at every youth level before earning his one and only cap for the Senior team in 2013.

His career has stalled somewhat in recent seasons but I think he could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for either Tottenham or Liverpool if they manage to get a deal agreed with Barcelona this summer.
