Man Utd Looking To Secure £22m Deal For Brazilian International

The opening of the summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Fabinho….

Manchester United are hoping to secure a £22m deal to sign AS Monaco right-back Fabinho this summer as Jose Mourinho continues to overhaul his newly-inherited squad, according to the Sun.

Mourinho has already brought in three new players and is actively looking to sign a big-money central midfielder but the Portuguese coach is also understood to be in the market for a new right-sided defender.

Right-back has been a problem area for United for some time while Matteo Darmian – who was signed by Louis van Gaal last summer – was supposed to be the answer, the Italian international struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League following his move from Torino last summer.

It looks as though Mourinho wants to bring in his own player this summer and the Sun claim that the former Chelsea boss has set his sights on Monaco’s highly-rated defender Fabinho.

The 22-year-old has developed in to one of the best full-backs in Ligue 1 since joining Monaco on an initial loan deal in 2013 and showed off his attacking instincts last season having scored six goals from right-back for the French outfit.

Monaco will no doubt want to keep hold of the player but the newspaper suggests that United are willing to pay a whopping £22m to land Fabinho and the large fee will help with any work permit application.

Fabinho has earned four caps for the Brazilian national team but is still behind Dani Alves in the pecking order so the Red Devils may need a helping hand when it comes to applying for a work permit, should they get a deal agreed with Monaco.

The defender shares the same agent as Mourinho in Jorge Mendes so I’m sure the United boss will be using his connections to try and get a deal thrashed out and the Sun suggest that Fabinho is ready to take the next step in his career by moving to Old Trafford.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Fabinho would be an excellent addition for United and could be a long-term fixture in what’s become a troublesome area for the club in recent years.
