Agent Confirms Chelsea, Man Utd & Man City Are Battling To Sign Serie A Star

The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd are linked with Kostas Manolas…

The agent of Kostas Manolas claims that Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all showing a keen interest in signing Roma defender this summer, according to the Mirror.

Manolas has just come off the back of another excellent season and has forged a reputation as one of the best defenders in Italian football since joining Roma from Olympiakos in the summer of 2014.

However, the 25-year-old’s future at the Stadio Olimpico is in doubt as with just two years remaining on his current contract, the centre-back has so far been unable to agree terms over an extension with the Serie A outfit.

And it looks like Manolas’s impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League as the players agent, Ioannis Evangelopoulos, has been quoted in the Mirror as saying that Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City are all vying for his signature this summer.

The agent is quoted by the newspaper as saying:

“The best clubs in Europe want him,”

“There isn’t just Manchester City, but also United and Chelsea. I haven’t spoken with Roma for a while. Will he remain in the capital? No comment.”

New Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is understood to be in the market for another central defender as he looks to bring in a long-term replacement for John Terry and Manolas would be an excellent signing for the west Londoners.

Jose Mourinho has already splashed out on Eric Bailly but there are doubts over whether the youngster is ready to be a regular just yet so the new United boss could also be eyeing a move for a more experienced defender like Manolas to partner Chris Smalling at the back.

However, Chelsea and United could face stiff competition from Man City as Pep Guardiola is in the market for a centre-back and Manolas would be a cheaper alternative to the likes of Everton’s John Stones.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how this plays out but if Roma can’t tie Manolas down to a new deal soon then they may be forced to cash in and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards for the Greek international.
