Chelsea Confident Of Signing Striker This Week In £60m + Player Deal

Chelsea are optimistic they will secure the signature of Romelu Lukaku by the end of the week after offering Everton £60m plus Loic Remy for the striker

The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea step-up their interest in Romelu Lukaku…

Chelsea are optimistic they will secure the signature of Romelu Lukaku by the end of the week after offering Everton £60m plus Loic Remy for the Belgian international striker, according to the Evening Standard.

New boss Antonio Conte has already brought in highly-rated forward Michy Batshuayi from Marseille but the Italian tactician is expected to sign another striker amid speculation that Diego Costa could be heading back to Atletico Madrid.

Lukaku has emerged as Conte’s prime target in recent weeks and the Daily Star reported last weekend that Everton had rejected Chelsea’s opening £57m bid and were demanding a whopping £75m for the Belgian hitman.

It looks like the Blues have gone back in with an improved bid as the Evening Standard claim that Chelsea have made a final offer of £60m plus out-of-favour striker Loic Remy in exchange for Lukaku’s signature.

Remy joined Chelsea from QPR in a £10.5m deal back in 2014 but has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and it appears the French international has now been used as a make-weight to offer Everton a direct replacement for Lukaku.

The Standard claim that Chelsea have set the Toffees a deadline for the move to be wrapped-up by the end of the week and are confident the Merseysiders will accept their latest offer given that Lukaku is considering handing in a transfer request to push through the move.

So it looks like Chelsea could be set to break their transfer record re-signing a player they sold for £28m just two years ago and it will cap an unbelievable turn-around for Lukaku as he’s developed in to one of the best strikers in the Premier League since leaving the west London club.

The 23-year-old has scored 45 goals since joining Everton on a permanent basis in 2014 and there is little doubt that it was a huge mistake from Chelsea to let him leave without giving him a proper chance to prove himself.

However, Lukaku looks set to finally be given that opportunity under Conte and I think he’ll be an excellent signing for the Blues if they manage to get this proposed deal over the line by the end of the week.
