Man Utd To Complete £26m Deal For Chelsea Striker Target Within 48 Hours

Manchester United are set to beat off competition from the likes of Chelsea to secure a £26m deal to sign a Brazilian striker within the next 48 hours

The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd close in on Gabriel Barbosa…

Manchester United are set to beat off competition from the likes of Chelsea to secure a £26m deal to sign Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa within the next 48 hours, according to the Sun.

Barbosa – also known as Gabigol – has become one of the hottest prospects in Brazilian football since breaking in to the Santos first team in 2013 and has been hailed as the ‘new Neymar’ back in his homeland.

The 19-year-old’s potential has attracted interest from a whole host of top European clubs with the Sun claiming that Chelsea, Leicester, Inter Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have all been chasing the Samba Star this summer.

However, it looks as though United are set to win the race for the teenagers signature as the newspaper says that the Red Devils are expected to push through a £26m deal to sign Barbosa within the next 48 hours.

Jose Mourinho has already signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer but with the Swedish sensation approaching his 35th birthday the ‘Special One’ needs to think to the future and it appears Barbosa is the man he wants.

The Sun claim Santos president Modesto Roma met with United chief Ed Woodward in London where the Manchester giants agreed to pay £26m for the striker as well as paying his agent a £4m commission fee.

Despite the growing interest in his services, the report suggests that as soon as Barbosa found out United were in for him he made it clear he wants to move to Old Trafford this summer, so it looks as though everything is in place for this transfer to go through.

The Brazilian international is predominantly a centre-forward but he’s also capable of playing out wide in the attacking midfield positions so he’ll give Mourinho plenty of options in the final third if he does end up completing a move to United.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days and there is still time for the likes of Chelsea to try and hijack United’s move but Barbosa would be a major coup for the Red Devils if they do manage to wrap-up this proposed deal.
