Liverpool have been dealt a fresh injury blow with Jurgen Klopp confirming that Philippe Coutinho may be forced to miss tomorrow’s clash with Tottenham due to a hamstring injury, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Coutinho sat out Tuesday night’s comfortable 5-0 victory over Burton Albion in the EFL Cup and most people thought Klopp had just given the Brazilian playmaker a well earned breather.

However, the Reds boss confirmed to reporters at his press conference yesterday that the 24-year-old was in fact left out after complaining of tightness in his hamstring following last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Burnley.

Coutinho was unable to train during the first part of this week and only took part in light training on Thursday with Klopp admitting that his key man is now a doubt for Saturday’s trip to White Hart Lane to face Spurs.

Klopp is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo:

“The muscle was a little stiff. He felt something so we didn’t want to take a risk (against Burton).

“We left him out of training until now. We have to make a decision on Friday with what we can do with him.

“It is not a situation to take any risk. We have to talk to the player.

“From the medical side, it is not a big issue, but it was big enough to leave him out of the squad for Burton.”

It would be a huge blow for Liverpool if Coutinho was ruled out as he’s one of Klopp’s most important players and it could get worse for the visitors as Emre Can and Divock Origi are also doubts for the trip to the capital this weekend.

Can was forced off during the second half against Burton with an ankle injury while Origi limped out of the match just before full time with severe cramp and both players will be assessed at Melwood today to determine whether they’ll be available for selection.

If the trio are all ruled out, it means Liverpool will be without eight first team squad players as Sheyi Ojo, Loris Karius, Lucas Leiva, Joe Gomez and Mamadou Sakho are all certain to miss the Spurs game.

With mounting injury worries for Liverpool, it’s easy to see why Tottenham are the 27/20 favourites to win the match but if you want even better odds, then my recommended bet would be Spurs to win 2-1 at odds of 33/4. 138.com are offering a 100% free bet up to £25 so if you took full advantage of that offer, then you would stand to win £231.25 if Spurs beat Liverpool 2-1 on Saturday!
