Striker To Sign 4-Year Deal After Completing Medical Ahead Of £17m Arsenal Move

Lucas Perez is on the verge of sealing his £17m move to Arsenal with the striker set to sign a four-year contract after completing his medical on Friday

The transfer window is now drawing to a close so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Lucas Perez is set to join Arsenal….

Lucas Perez is on the verge of sealing his £17m move to Arsenal with the striker set to sign a four-year contract after completing his medical on Friday, according to the Mirror.

Arsenal made their move for Perez on Wednesday night after agreeing to meet the Spanish strikers £17m buyout clause – hijacking Everton’s attempts to sign the player in the process.

The Mirror claim that the 27-year-old Deportivo La Coruna hitman flew-in to London on Thursday night and successfully completed his medical at our London Colney training base on Friday afternoon.

The newspaper says that Perez will now sign a four-year contract with the club and the transfer is expected to be formally announced at some point this weekend.

Given there is a big Premier League to worry about this afternoon, I’d be surprised if we heard anything imminently so this evening at the earliest is when I’d expect the deal to be confirmed.

We may even wait to do a double unveilling as we’re also on the verge of completing the £35m signing of German defender Shkodran Mustafi, who’s also understood to be in London to finalise his move from Valencia.

Perez may not be the big name striker fans have been hoping for but he has been compared to Jamie Vardy – who we missed out on earlier in the summer – so it appears Arsene Wenger has found a like-for-like alternative.

The Spaniard is known for his speed and clever runs behind the opposition defence so he’ll certainly bring something different to our attack this season and offer a viable alternative to Olivier Giroud.

Perez scored 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season for a side battling relegation from La Liga so he has the potential to be a real asset for Arsenal playing alongside the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
