[Video Goals] Tottenham 2-0 Man City: Alli On Target As Spurs Go Second

By on October 2, 2016

Tottenham Hotspur ended Manchester City’s 100% start to the new Premier League season after running out 2-0 victors at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs started brightly and opened the scoring in the 9th minute when City defender Alexandre Kolarov sliced a Danny Rose cross in to his own net to make it 1-0.

The hosts continued to cause Pep Guardiola’s men plenty of problems and Tottenham doubled their lead shortly before half-time when Heung-min Son found Dele Alli and the England midfielder slotted home for 2-0 in the 37th minute.

Spurs then had the perfect opportunity to seal the three points when Fernandinho brought Alli down the box. Erik Lamela stepped up but saw his spot kick saved by Bravo to keep City in the game.

However, there was to be no late comeback as Spurs held on to secure a huge win that sees them move up to second place in the table and to within just one point of leaders City.
