Tottenham will look to book their place in the next round of the EFL Cup when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and has given reporters a team news and injury update.

The Argentinean coach confirmed that Toby Alderweireld will once again miss out as the centre-back continues to nurse a knee injury that’s kept him out of the last two matches.

Harry Kane has been back in training in recent days after recovering from ankle ligament damage but the striker isn’t ready to return just yet so he remains on the sidelines along with Alderweireld.

Pochettino also confirmed that the club have accepted an FA violent conduct charge against Moussa Sissoko meaning the midfielder will begin his three-match ban against Liverpool tomorrow and will also sit out upcoming games against Leicester and Arsenal.

There was bad news on youngster Marcus Edwards as the midfielder has been ruled out for around 6 weeks after suffering an ankle injury before the Bayer Leverkusen game last week.

Pochettino is expected to shuffle his pack and given some of his back-up players a chance at Anfield tomorrow and while he refused to give too much away about his team selection, the Spurs boss did confirm that Michel Vorm will come in for Hugo Lloris in goal.

Summer signing Georges-Kevin Nkoudou will also be given another chance to impress in attack as Pochettino looks to give his key men a breather.

Here is what the Tottenham boss has been telling the media today:
