Surprise Name Included In Arsenal Squad To Face Reading

Aaron Ramsey is a surprise inclusion in the Arsenal squad for tonight’s League Cup last-16 clash with Reading at the Emirates, according to the Mirror.

Ramsey hasn’t featured for the first team since limping out of our 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on the opening weekend of the next season after picking up a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old has seen his comeback delayed by a number of setbacks over the past couple of months but the midfielder was finally given the green light to resume training earlier this month.

Ramsey has been working on his fitness and returned to full training with the rest of the squad but Arsene Wenger suggested in his team news update on Monday that tonight’s game would come too soon for player.

However, it looks like the Welsh international was able to convince the boss in training yesterday that he IS ready to make his comeback as the Mirror are reporting that Ramsey has been included in tonight’s matchday squad to face Reading.

The former Cardiff City midfielder is expected to be named on the bench but will be hoping to get some minutes under his belt as he looks to get himself in contention for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Sunderland.

Olivier-Giroud arsenal

Olivier Giroud is also set for a place on the bench tonight as he looks to make his first appearance in six weeks after suffering a toe injury against Paris Saint-Germain in mid-September.

In a further boost, Carl Jenkinson will make his first start of the season for the first team against Reading tonight after recovering from a serious knee injury as Wenger shuffles his pack to give his key men a well deserved breather.
