By on October 26, 2016

Chelsea crashed out of the EFL Cup after going down 2-1 to London rivals West Ham at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.

The hosts got off to the perfect start as Cheikhou Kouyate flicked on a Kevin Nolan cross from the left and it flew past Thibaut Courtois in the Chelsea net to make it 1-0 in the 11th minute.

The Hammers then doubled their advantage shortly after the break as Edmilson Fernandes fired in to the bottom corner from the edge of the area in the 48th minute.

Chelsea did manage to pull one back when Gary Cahill smashed home from close range following a stoppage time free kick but West Ham held on to progress to the quarter finals.
