[Video Goals] Man Utd 1-1 Arsenal: Mata Goal Not Enough As Giroud Rescues Gunners

Olivier Giroud was the hero for Arsenal as he came off the bench to score a late header to rescue a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Olivier Giroud was the hero for a below-par Arsenal side as he came off the bench to score a late header to rescue a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The first half was a cagey affair with neither side giving too much away and Juan Mata came closest to opening the scoring as he forced a fine save from Petr Cech as the game was finely poised at 0-0 at half-time.

United took control after the break and took a deserved lead when Mata swept home from an Ander Herrera cut-back in the 68th minute to make it 1-0 leaving Arsenal with it all to do.

The visitors continued to struggle to create any clear-cut chances as Arsene Wenger introduced Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from the bench to try and make something happen.

And the changes worked as it was Oxlade-Chamberlain who sent in a superb cross which was powered home by the head of Giroud to make it 1-1 in the 89th minute and rescue a point for Arsenal.
