Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to get back to winning ways following their midweek disappointment when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.

The Argentinean coach confirmed a triple injury blow with the news that Ben Davies, Erik Lamela and Toby Alderweireld will all remain sidelined for the trip to west London this weekend.

Alderweireld has been on the sidelines since suffering what was initially thought to be a minor knee injury against West Brom last month but the Belgian international has struggled to shake off the issue.

Pochettino is hoping the centre-back might be able to return to full training on Saturday and be in contention to face Swansea next weekend but he’s certain to miss the Chelsea game tomorrow.

Lamela has also been sidelined in recent weeks after struggling to overcome a niggling hip problem and the Argentinean international will also sit out the trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

In a triple blow, Pochettino confirmed that Davies will not recover from his ankle injury in time to face the Blues so with Danny Rose suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season against West Ham last weekend, Spurs have a problem to solve at left-back.

Jan Vertonghen could be moved across to the left with Kevin Wimmer partnering Eric Dier in the middle of defence or Pochettino could decide to switch Kieran Trippier across to left-back with Kyle Walker starting at right-back.

It’s a big decision for the Tottenham manager to make as he looks to lift his squad for a huge Premier League game after crashing out of the Champions League following their 2-1 defeat at Monaco in midweek.

Spurs head to Stamford Bridge sitting fifth in the table after beating the Hammers last weekend and a win over Chelsea would see them close the gap on the current leaders to just one point.
