Liverpool Ready To Steal March On Arsenal & Man Utd With £20m Striker Bid
Managers are now planning ahead to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Moussa Dembele….
Liverpool are ready to steal a march on rivals Arsenal and Manchester United by launching a £20m raid on Celtic for striker Moussa Dembele this January, according to a report by the Metro.
Dembele came through the youth ranks at Paris Saint-Germain before making his name in England during a three-year spell at Fulham where he scored 17 goals during the 2015/16 campaign.
That form saw a scramble for his services with a host of top clubs linked with his signature but Dembele ended up making a surprise move north of the border to Scottish champions Celtic during the summer.
The 20-year-old has continued to forge a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young attackers with Dembele already scoring 17 goals in his 27 appearances so far to help Brendan Rodgers’ side lift the Scottish League Cup and lead the way in the Scottish Premiership table.
It seems a number of Premier League clubs are ready to try and lure Dembele away from Celtic Park as the Metro claim that Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on the youngster.
However, it looks like Jurgen Klopp is set to steal a march on his rivals as the newspaper cites Glasgow Live as saying that Liverpool are ready to launch a £20m bid to try and land Dembele when the January transfer window opens.
The Metro say that the Merseysiders are willing to pay £10m up front and will tempt the French under-21 international with a lucrative deal worth around £60,000-a-week in order to make the switch to Anfield.
It remains to be seen how Celtic would respond to such an offer but the report suggests that Klopp is keen to strengthen his attacking options this winter and will guarantee Dembele regular game-time after receiving glowing reports from his scouts – who’ve been tracking the striker for some time.
We’ll have to see how things develop over the coming weeks and I’m sure the likes of Arsenal and United will be interested to hear about Liverpool’s plans to launch a formal offer but Dembele would be a superb signing if the Merseysiders could pull it off.
