Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has shared a photo of himself lying in his hospital bed after undergoing surgery on an Achilles injury which has hampered him in recent months.

Cazorla was enjoying a fine start to the new season but his campaign came to an abrupt halt when he aggravated a long-standing Achilles problem during our 6-0 win over Ludogorets back in mid-October.

The injury proved difficult to shift with a course of anti-inflammatory injections failing to cure the issue so the club confirmed that the midfielder would travel to Sweden this week to undergo surgery.

Cazorla has now posted an update on his Instagram account after uploading a photo of him giving the thumbs-up in his hospital bed with a caption saying the surgery was ‘perfect’.

Surgery done! It was perfect! Looking forward to be back at the #emiratesstadium with you! @arsenal

It’s great to hear that Santi’s operation went well and now we have to pray that it has successfully cured his Achilles problems and the midfielder makes a full and swift recovery.

The Spanish international suggested last week that he’s hoping to be back playing again in around two months time but Arsene Wenger has hinted that it could be nearer three before the 31-year-old is available again.

Either way, fingers crossed Cazorla is able to get back on the pitch as soon as possible and plays a major part during the second half of the season as he’s been a huge missed over the past two months since he’s been out.
