By on December 28, 2016

Dele Alli scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to beat 10-man Southampton 4-1 at St Mary’s this evening.

Things started brightly for the Saints as Virgil Van Dijk powered home a towering header to make it 1-0 in the 2nd minute but Spurs levelled things up midway through the first half when Alli headed home for 1-1.

Harry Kane then put Tottenham ahead shortly after the break before the game’s big turning point came when Nathan Redmond was sent off for bringing down Alli in the area in the 57th minute.

Kane skied the resulting spot kick but the visitors eventually doubled their advantage when Heung-min Son drilled in to the bottom corner before Alli wrapped up the three points with a fourth late on.

The win sees Tottenham move to within just one point of fourth-placed Arsenal while they’re also now three points clear of Manchester United.
