Transfer Speculation Growing At Liverpool
One team in the EPL that has been in the transfer gossip pages more than most is Liverpool F.C. With the Reds sitting second in the league many fans and pundits expect them to enter the market to boost their chances of becoming champions. They are now second favourites to win the league with most gambling sites so it will be interesting to see if the players can handle the pressure.
One Liverpool player who has consistently been linked away from the club is Mamadou Sakho. With Southampton player Jose Fonte wanting out of the club the Saints are believed to be wanting to sign Sakho as a replacement. The deal makes sense since Klopp is not a fan of him since they fell out during the pre-season tour and the player was sent home by the German manager.
Southampton will not have it all their own way though as both West Brom along with Stoke is interested in the French international, while AC and Inter Milan along with Galatasaray have been linked with the centre-back.
It is believed that Klopp has been given a huge forty million pounds to spend on transfer targets during the window.
One of Liverpool’s main targets is believed to be Julian Brandt who is only twenty years old and plays for Bayer Leverkusen. It is reported though his club is holding out for a fee in the region of between forty and fifty million. With such a huge price to pay it is unlikely that the deal will go through during the January window.
Another potential target that Liverpool have been heavily linked to is Emil Forsberg who plays for RB Leipzig. He has been in sparkling form this campaign and his club are reaping the rewards. With his agent revealing that it is possible Forsberg could move this month, speculation has increased that a deal is likely. With his newly promoted team sitting second in the German Bundesliga a lot will depend on if the player wants to see out the season or not.
There has also been a lot of speculation that Joe Hart could be on his way to Anfield this January. It is extremely unlikely that this deal will come off though as the England goalkeeper has already played for two different clubs which would make him ineligible to play for the Reds until the following season. A deal in the summer is far more likely.
One player who Liverpool scouts have been closely monitoring is Raul Jimenez who plays as a striker for Benfica. It is believed that a deal in the region of £22 million is enough to prize the forward away from Portugal. With Daniel Sturridge struggling to establish himself under Klopp, reinforcements are required to help them push for the title.
Jimenez has already scored on 18 occasions this season and his club are determined to hold onto him. They issued a statement to say that the player will not be sold during the January window so it is unlikely that this deal will happen until the summer.
