Liverpool will be looking to take a positive result back to Anfield when they take on Southampton in their EFL Cup semi-final first leg at St Mary’s this evening.

Jurgen Klopp has made eight changes to the side that drew with Plymouth in the FA Cup wit Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan and James Milner returning to the back four.

Lucas Leiva lines-up in the holding role with Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum joining the Brazilian in midfield while Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino support Daniel Sturridge in attack.

Philippe Coutinho is among the substitutes after recovering from an ankle ligament injury and he’ll be hoping to get some minutes to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Man Utd.

Here are the confirmed line-ups:

Forster, Cedric, Yoshida, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Clasie, Davis, Romeu, Redmond, Tadic, Rodriguez

Subs: Lewis, Long, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Stephens, McQueen, Sims

Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Lucas, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Firmino, Sturridge.

Subs: Mignolet, Moreno, Gomez, Stewart, Coutinho, Origi, Woodburn
